the serpent of radical Islam

Why do we nurture the serpent that is radical Islam? Granting them an endless state of war, cheerfully embracing the role of Great Satan (and acting accordingly), funding Islamists behind the scenes in Iraq and Pakistan . . . I fail to see how we could do more to prop up the Caliphate.

Where we should be corrupting fundamentalist Islam with the weapons of wealth, Baywatch and human sexuality, we are instead cementing their world view and paying to do it with the blood of our sons and daughters.

Wealth? Many jihadists are well educated and wealthy. The 911 hijackers come to mind.

Baywatch? That is STILL being the 'great satan'; they ruthlessly clamp down on any such efforts from within, and are quick to point the finger at foreign influences. And why not be the great satan? Their definition of the great satan is any non-muslim who happens to have influence over their populace. This sounds like the people who blame America for 911: the leftists who blame our foreign policy, and the right-wingers who blame the very sexual freedoms you want Islam to embrace.

What we need is to eliminate the political correctness and the coddling of their hatred and faith under the name of tolerance or diversity, since they are clearly unwilling to do the same for us. Kick out or refuse entry for the imams who spread hate, endow people with a sense of community to be alert for terrorists, coordinate higher level investigations, and for gods' sake secure the border.

I think that the warfare within much of the muslim world is due to the facts of islam and a culture of strife that it grew out of. Even if we had no presence there, they would still be beheading each other, attacking Israel, and likely casting their antipathy towards us. But at least their food is good.

I'll not throw out the baby with the bathwater, thanks. Religious freedom is a hallmark of our way of life. I agree that acts of hatred and terror should be prevented and punished, but the line should be clearly drawn. (Those who hover near it are begging to be surveilled, which I do not have a problem with.)

>>Kick out or refuse entry for the imams who spread hate,

Better to track them, catch them doing something criminal and then kick them out or imprison them.

>> endow people with a sense of community to be alert for terrorists,

Hasn't worked so well so far.

>> coordinate higher level investigations,

I'll believe it when I see it. DHS and FEMA can't even run a disaster like Hurricane Katrina, with no intelligent opponent, so I'm supposed to believe in the Federal government's counter terrorism capabilities? No.

A nice idea, which one? The unfenced, unguarded one to the north or the partly fenced, somewhat guarded (but with lots of holes) one to the south?
